Okay, this should be the last post about what to do about Shirley. Sorry I've been so slow about this -- I was hoping that the player would get in contact with me, even if just to say if she was dropping...and also I admit I lost track of time somewhat. Anyway.
So at this point, it's been well over two weeks since I heard anything from the player, so I'm thinking we're going to have to assume the player has dropped for now, even if she sounded like she was planning to stay when I last heard from her.
As such, we have a few things to work out.
1) Are we going to bring up Shirley's disappearance in a post, or are we going to just inform CR and do this relatively quietly? Since she didn't thread anywhere outside of that intro post, I imagine we have a little more flexibility to do so.
2) If we do want to announce it ICly, who will do so? If we go that route and no one else is interested, I am willing to make the post, but I don't really have much interesting to say there and I'm not sure I could make it a particularly good post. As such, I'm open to letting someone else do that.
3) If we don't announce it ICly, then the lack of outside threading gives us some flexibility on when Shirley disappeared. Personally, I don't think I've brought up Shirley in a major way, myself, especially since most of my threading over the last month has been in things like the canon AU event or the Starfish Festival. As such, the option is open to "backdate" Shirley's disappearance, like to the time when she actually got ACed, or even shortly after the end of her intro post. The possibility to even retcon away the intro exists, too, though I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. On one hand, this would be probably easiest and would make sense of her later absence. On the other, I'm not sure what to feel about doing so without talking to the player. On the third hand of the Hindu deity I am apparantly counting on, it seems like the player is currently uncontactable for whatever reason, as I also sent an e-mail a couple of days ago as a last-ditch attempt to contact her, so it's not exactly our fault for being unable to talk to her about it. Hard to say, but it's certainly worth talking about.
4) ...I think I had a fourth point, but I've forgotten it. Fill this in with whatever else I have missed that we should talk about.
Let me know what you think! Thanks to everyone for their patience.
